Classroom Teaching:

Summary of Student Course Evaluations

My evaluations have been excellent over the years.  Here are listed the overall averages and standard deviations for my last 8 semesters of teaching (Spring '00 - Fall '03) on my evaluation questions in Chemistry 101 and 102. I will update these numbers soon.

Looking at the last four years of data, 96.4% of my students thought that I was an effective teacher, who showed enthusiasm for the subject matter (99.0 %), gave well organized lectures (96.2%), and communicated well (94.1 %).  I know that for many students, extra help is vital and she provided many opportunities for personal and group help outside the classroom and her classes (96.2%) recognized that fact.  The students acknowledged that I set high standard for the class and motivated them to do their best (94.2%).  My courses were very thoroughly taught since 95.7 % of the students stated that the exams required much more than the memorizing of facts; they required higher-level synthesis of materials learned throughout the semester.  Finally, they agreed (93.0 %) that I set fair exams and graded them promptly (94.5 %).
