Shachin Patra

Post-Doctoral Researcher

B.Sc. Chemistry, Burdwan University

M.Sc. Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur

Ph. D. Chemistry, Texas A&M University

Email: shachin8788@tamu.edu

Shachin joined the lab in the fall of 2011. Currently, he works on functional studies of frataxin. Also, he studies the differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cysteine desulfurases and the effect of evolution on these systems.

Manas Ghosh

Post-Doctoral Researcher

B.Sc. Chemistry, University of Calcutta

M.Sc. Chemistry, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology

Ph. D. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

Email: manasghosh@tamu.edu

Manas joined the lab in the Spring of 2019.

Seth Van Andel "VA"

Chemistry Graduate Student

B.Sc. Biochemistry, Calvin College

Email: sethavanandel@tamu.edu

Seth joined the lab in June 2016. Currently he uses chemical biology (noncanonical amino acid incorporation and variety of chemical labeling techniques) and biophysical techniques (X-Ray crystallography, HPLC, and EPR spectroscopy) to interrogate modifications and structural dynamics of the human iron-sulfur biosynthetic complex.

Jeff Cheng-Wei Lin

Chemistry Graduate Student

B.Sc. Chemistry, National Taiwan University

Email: jeff94cwl@tamu.edu

Jeff joined the lab in the fall of 2017. Currently, he utilizes mass spectrometry to characterize the intermediates and probe the mechanism of Fe-S cluster synthesis.

Shelby Oney

Chemistry Graduate Student

B.Sc. Chemistry, University of Texas at Tyler

Email: soney1@tamu.edu

Shelby joined the group in June 2018. She is currently elucidating how clinical mutants on the human Fe-S cluster assembly complex compromise function through a combination of structural biology, activity assays, and radiolabeling methods.

Elisa Ferrara

Chemistry Graduate Student

B.A. Biochemistry, College of Mount Saint Vincent

Email: eferrara29@tamu.edu

Elisa joined the lab in the fall of 2018. Currently, she is focused on determining the mechanism of electron donation to the biosynthesis of iron sulfur clusters using biophysical techniques.

Amy Hockstedler

Biochemistry Graduate Student

B.Sc. Chemistry, Georgia State University

Email: ahockstedler1@tamu.edu

Amy joined the lab in the fall of 2018. Her research currently focuses on using different biophysical techniques to investigate a prokaryotic complex responsible for the synthesis of Fe-S clusters.

Steven Havens

Research Assistant

B.Sc. Chemistry, Texas A&M University

Email: steven.havens@chem.tamu.edu

After spending a brief period of time in our lab as an REU student, Steven re-joined our lab in the summer of 2017 as a research assistant. He aids in day to day research operations.
