Here, the fifth valence orbital of benzene calculated by Fenske-Hall is
displayed at two different iso levels. The lower iso level is drawn in
wireframe mode so that the surface it contanis can be seen.
This screenshot (in persepctive view) is of the straight-channel of the ZSM-5 catalyst, an alumino-silicate (a crystalline material that contains silicon, aluminium, and oxygen) drawn with solid
bonds. In total there are about 10,000 objects.
It is possible to render the current view with a ray tracer named POV-Ray. The
benefit of using a ray tracer is that images it produces are much smoother than
those from OpenGL. Click the image to see the sphere up close.
This picture shows two features simultaneously. The first is that Jimp 2 allows
for images to be saved using an OpenGL renderer at any resolution. This image
is 3320x2670 pixels in size.
The other feature to notice is that the atom labels are drawn using a very
smooth looking font. It is easy to produce print quality graphics.
