Research overview - Isotope Effects
Using NMR methodology developed in the Singleton group, we measure kinetic isotope effects at natural abundance for each site in a molecule. These measurements provide information about the rate-limiting-step of the reactions. By combining this data with modern computational methods , we have been able to rapidly study reaction mechanisms throughout chemistry, resolving controversies, discovering new mechanisms, and uncovering new fine details of basic organic reactions.
