Benjamin Roman

Benjamin was born and grew up in Irving, just outside of Dallas, Texas. He recieved his B.S. in Chemistry at the University of North Texas in 2014, and joined the Sheldon Group in June of 2015. He is a recipient of the James L. Carrico award from UNT, and the Association of Former Students Graduate Merit Fellowship at Texas A&M. In his spare time he enjoys reading and playing board games.

Nicki originally grew up in Wisconsin and got her undergraduate degree from the University of West Georgia in 2015. She joined the Sheldon Group in June of 2015. In her spare time, she is both a gamer and a baker.

Joey grew up in Xiamen, Fujian in China. He recieved a degree in chemical biology from Peking University. He joined the Sheldon Group in September of 2015, and in his freetime enjoys bodybuilding.

Maelani received her BS in Forensic Chemistry and Biology from Sam Houston University in 2013. She then spent 2 years working at Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX via Kelly Services. She joined the Sheldon group in September of 2015, and has a Chemistry Doctoral Fellowship. In her free time she likes to sew and do yoga. Her favorite musical is Wicked, she loves animals (especially dogs), and takes her sugar with a little coffee.

Azzy Francis

Asenath (Azzy) Francis

Azzy was born in New Orleans, but moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana shortly after Hurricane Katrina. She received her B.S. in Chemistry from Louisiana State University in 2016 and joined the Sheldon group in June of 2016. In her spare time, Azzy enjoys eating exotic food, exploring foreign lands, and watching Netflix.

 

 

Ray Wen

Ray was born and grew up in Taoyuan, Taiwan. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from the National Taiwan University in 2011 and 2013, respectively. After graduation, he served in the Army of ROC (Taiwan) as a platoon commander for a year of mandatory military service. He then worked as a research and administrative assistant for another two years, and joined the Sheldon Group in October of 2016. In his free time, he enjoys playing badminton, listening to post-rock, and watching the Spurs.

Nick is from Dallas, TX. He received his B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Material Science & Engineering from Texas A&M University. He joined the Sheldon Group in 2017, shortly after starting his masters program. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, hiking, and listening to music.

Cristen grew up in Northern Virginia, and received her B.S. in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary in 2017. She joined the Sheldon group in July of 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and relaxin by the pool.

 

 

 

Freddy Rodriquez-Ortiz

Freddy received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey in July of 2017. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in two separate internships at Texas A&M University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a former NSF-Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation and National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network fellow. In his spare time, Freddy enjoys amateur astronomy, salsa dancing, solving Rubik's Cubes, mountain biking, and, more recently, indoor gardening.

Noel graduated from Texas State Univeristy in 2018 with a B.S. in Chemistry. He is a recipient of the ACS-Project SEED fellowship, the Texas State SURE HSI STEM Impact Program fellowship, and the Texas A&M University Graduate Diversity fellowship in Chemistry. During his free time, Noel enjoys going to concerts, watching Netflix, camping, and exploring new restaurants.

 

 

 

 

Zachary Brawley

Zach received his B.S. in physics from the University of Central Arkansas in 2017. Before starting graduate work, he interned at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. He attended graduate school at University of Arkansas in Microelectronics+Photonics for one year prior to transferring to Texas A&M University with a College of Engineering Fellowship, and he joined the Sheldon Group in 2018. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, floating, watching sports, and playing video games.
