About

Nandini was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She received her undergraduate education from Presidency College, then under the University of Calcutta, and received her B.Sc (Hons.) in Chemistry in 2013. Thereafter she joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and went on to receive her M.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 2015. During her time there, she worked under the guidance of Dr. Dipak Ranjan Mal on the synthetic studies of aza-angucyclines via anionic annulations using aza-phthalide based synthons. Shortly afterwards, Nandini joined Texas A&M University for a PhD program in Chemistry, where she is currently doing research with the Sczepanski group. Her current projects involve the development of RNA-cleaving nucleic acid enzymes and sensors against a significant biomarker for DNA damage in cell.
