During his Master of Science at Jadavpur University, he conducted undergraduate research in Organic Chemistry. After getting a masters degree, Deb opted for pursuing his Ph.D. and joined the research groups of Professor Amit Basak (Chemistry) and Professor Amit Das (Biotechnology) at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-India) with a fellowship from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-India). There, he achieved his Ph.D. in 2015 in Bioorganic/Medicinal Chemistry for his detailed research in design, synthesis and in vitro and in vivo analysis of anti-microbial leads. Following graduate school, he moved to the College Station, TX to pursue postdoctoral research in Chemical Biology under the supervision of Dr. Sczepanski. His current project is focused on construction and analysis of designer chromatin containing specific DNA and/or protein modifications.
