Class problems 1:

(I)  What will be the Pb2+ equilibrium molar concentration in a solution made by mixing 50.00 ml of 0.05000 M Pb(NO3)2 with 45.00 ml of 0.030000M KI?

(II)  The Ksp for La(IO3)3 is 6.2 X 10-12.  What is then [La3+] in a solution prepared by mixing 50.00 ml of 0.05000 M La3+ with 50.00 ml of:
        (a) water
        (b) 0.0500 M IO3-
        (c) 0.3000 M IO3-
 
 

Class problem 2

A solution contains both La3+ ions (0.01500 M) and Ag+ ions (0.1000 M).  Is it possible to separate La3+ from Ag+ using IO3- ions?  Assume that the criterion for quantitative removal of an ion is 10-7 M.  Use complete sentences and plain English to expalin your logic.
