Former Ozerov Group Members

Wei Weng

Wei received his B.S. (1998) and M.S. (2001) degrees from Nankai University in Tianjin, China.  His undergraduate research involved studies of luminescent lanthanide complexes.  He joined the Department of Chemistry at Brandeis in 2001 and worked in the group of Prof. Bruce Foxman until joining the Ozerov group in July of 2002.  Wei is one of the two original graduate students in the Ozerov group (together with Slava Papkov).  He also has the distinction of performing the very first experiment in the group.  Wei had had the most diverse research history in the group.  He had contributed to extending the field of available PNP and other pincer ligands, and worked with half a dozen different transition metals.  Wei successfully defended in December 2006 and departed for a postdoctoral position with Prof. Rich Jordan at the University of Chicago.
