Mason Haneline

Mason received his undergraduate training and his B.S. degree (2000, cum laude) from Virginia Tech.  While at Tech, he worked in the laboratories of Prof. Paul Deck.  After graduation, Mason started his studies towards a Ph.D. degree at Texas A&M and he soon joined the research group of Prof. François Gabbaï.  His research efforts in the area of polyfunctional Lewis acids and supramolecular materials resulted in multiple high-quality publications.  His excellence at Texas A&M was recognized in part by the award of the Procter& Gamble Fellowship and the Dean’s Fellowship.  Mason defended his Ph.D. in 2004 and accepted a postdoctoral position with Prof. Alan Heyduk at UC – Irvine.  He remained at UC – Irvine for close to two years as a postdoctoral scholar and lecturer prior to joining the Ozerov group at Brandeis in October 2006.  His research activity here was directed towards advances in C-F activation and development of recyclable chelating ligands for catalysis.  In May 2007, Mason departed for a position with Heraeus Metal Processing in Santa Fe Springs, CA.
