WELCOME TO THE CARDIOVASCULAR CHEMISTRY LABORATORY, A COMPONENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AT TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY. |

The research and development work undertaken in the Macfarlane research group is aiming toward solving the problem of premature cardiovascular disease. The premise for this achievement is that early detection of those individuals at increased risk of a coronary event will permit the timely treatment and consequent prevention of coronary heart disease. While this goal may seem lofty, the research has made significant gains in the application of analytical techniques to the issue of diagnosis. The key to our success lies in the development of methodologies that utilize current technologies and state-of-the-art instrumentation, affording a more accurate, precise and sensitive assessment of the analytes of interest. |
