Cancer has been the biggest threat to the health of people for a long time. Since the discovery of cisplatin, metals in medicine have attracted a great deal of attention, especially for the treatment of cancer. Recently, our group began investigating Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) applications of dirhodium compounds. The main goal of my research is to design new types of ligands to render the dirhodium more suitable for PDT by shifting the energy of the light required for activity to the near infrared region. This research is collaborative with the Turro group at the Ohio State University.
