I am engaged in the study of the role of anion-pi interactions in the templation of supramolecular polygonal architectures. I am currently investigating the issues of ligand pi-acidity, anion size and/or shape and metal ion character using an array of experimental and computational techniques. Typical methods that I use are inert atmosphere synthesis, X-ray diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and density functional theory.
