Phi Lambda Upsilon is a national chemistry honor society whose aims and purposes are the promotion of high scholarship and original investigation in all branches of pure and applied chemistry. The Texas A&M Beta Beta Chapter was founded in 1957.

PLU fundraises every year by selling goggles to the freshman and organic chemistry labs. Other activities include volunteering at local and regional science fairs, mentoring, etc. Benefits of PLU include reimbursement of ACS dues, travel grants, and reimbursement of binding fees.

Qualifications:  

  • Applicants must have completed 3 semesters of full-time study in the graduate program at Texas A&M.
  • Applicants must maintain an overall GPA of 3.5 or above in their graduate studies.
  • Students that have been found guilty of academic misconduct at Texas A&M are not eligible for membership.

Students who are eligible will be notified at the end of their 2nd year in the program.
