Headshot of Dr. Jiong YangDr. Jiong Yang will join the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University as an Assistant Professor in August of 2007. Dr. Yang received his B.S. and M.S. degrees with Professor Yulin Li from Lanzhou University. After a second M.S. degree with Professor Kang Zhao at New York University, he completed his graduate work under the direction of Professor Leo A. Paquette at The Ohio State University. He undertook postdoctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute with Professor Peter G. Schultz. He is currently a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University with Professor Stuart L. Schreiber.

In his future work, Dr. Yang seeks to bring the power of modern synthetic organic chemistry to bear on problems in biology and medicine. Research projects in his group will include target-oriented organic synthesis, synthetic methodology development, mode of action study of biologically interesting small molecules, and identification of small molecule probes for biological studies.
