2007
- James Pennington received the Distinguished Achievement College-Level Award in Teaching from The Association of Former Students.
- Michael Rosynek received the Distinguished Achievement College-Level Award in Teaching from The Association of Former Students.
- Gyula Vigh received the Distinguished Achievement College-Level Award in Teaching from The Association of Former Students.
- John Hogg received the2007 Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence Award.
2006
- David E. Bergbreiter, 2006, Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence (a lifetime appointment).
- Paul Cremer received the 2006 Sigma Xi, Southwest Regional Young Investigator Award.
- Paul Cremer received the 2006 Robert A. Welch Foundation Norman Hackerman Award in Chemical Research . The Welch Foundation, one of the nation's oldest and largest sources of private funding for basic research in chemistry, presents the $100,000 award annually to honor up-and-coming scientists at Texas institutions who are 40 years old or younger. Recipients are recognized for expanding the frontiers of chemistry through their innovative research endeavors.
- Ray Schaak has been selected to receive a DuPont Young Professor Grant. This innovative grant program is designed to provide start-up assistance to promising young and untenured research faculty working in areas of interest to DuPont's long-term business.
- Yi Qin Gao has been selected to receive a Searle Scholar Award. The Searle Scholars Program was established at The Chicago Community Trust in 1980. Grants funded from Mr.and Mrs. Searle's estate are made to selected academic institutions to support the independent research of outstanding individuals who are in the first or second year of their first appointment at the assistant professor level, and whose current appointment is a tenure-track position.
- Ray Schaak has been selected to receive a Beckman Young Investigator Award. The Beckman Young Investigators (BYI) Program is intended to provide research support to the most promising young faculty members in the early stages of academic careers in the chemical and life sciences.
2005
- David Bergbreiter has been selected by the A&M Honors Students to receive
the Wells Fargo Honors Faculty Mentor Award.
- Jaan Laane received the
2005 Ellis R. Lippincott Award. The award is given annually by the Optical
Society of America, the Coblentz Society, and the Society for Applied Spectroscopy
to "an individual who has
made significant contributions to vibrational spectroscopy as judged by
his or her influence on other scientists."
- Al Cotton received
the 2005
Monie A. Ferst Award.
- Larry Peck has recently been selected to receive two awards.
The first is the Skoog Cup Award sponsored by the Howard Hughes Foundation
in recognition of outstanding contributions to science education. The second
award is the Southwest Regional ACS Award.
- Al Cotton has been selected to receive the George C. Pimentel Award in
Chemical Education sponsored by Dow Chemical. This award recognizes individuals
who have made outstanding contributions to chemical education.
- Paul Cremer has been selected to receive the 2006 Pittsburgh Conference
Achievement Award. This award "recognizes individuals who have made
outstanding contributions to the fields of analytical chemistry or applied
spectroscopy in the 10 years following their Ph.D."
- Eric Simanek has been selected to receive a Distinguished Achievement
College-Level Award in Teaching from The Association of Former Students.
The award will be presented at the annual College of Science Faculty and
Staff meeting to be scheduled in early fall 2005.

Dr. Gates as one of two runner-ups for the Presidential Professorship of
Teaching Excellence.

- John Bevan has been appointed as a Davidson Professor of Science.

- Kevin Burgess has been
appointed as the Rachal Professor of Chemistry.
- Wayne Goodman has been
selected to receive the Gabor A. Somorjai Award for Creative Research
in Catalysis sponsored by the Gabor A. and Judith K. Somorjai Endowment
Fund administered by the American Chemical Society. The
Awards Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in
conjunction with the 229th ACS National Meeting in San Diego, California.

- Dr. John L. Hogg received
the Mervin and Annette Peters Advising Award presented to the outstanding
faculty advisor by the Texas A&M University Advisors and Counselors Organization
at Texas A&M University, May 6, 2004.
- Dr. John L. Hogg received
the Teaching Award of Merit from Gamma Sigma Delta, the Texas A&M
Chapter of The Honor Society of Agriculture, for outstanding contributions
to teaching by someone outside the College of Agriculture and Life
Sciences, April 8, 2004.

- "Celebration
of Innovation in the Research Valley" hosted by the
Technology Licensing Office, honored Gyula
Vigh with the Spirit of Innovation
Corporate Partnership Award.

a holder of a University Professorship in Undergraduate Teaching Excellence.
- Eric Simanek was selected as the College of Science 2003-2004
Montague-Center for Teaching Excellence Scholar.
- Vickie Williamson has
been selected by the College of Science to receive the 2003 Distinguished
Achievement College-Level Award in Teaching from The Association
