Federal Guidelines for Shipping Non-Hazardous Chemicals
Please bring the following to the departmental stockroom (Chemistry 014) at least 1 business day in advance.:
- a completed Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Chemical Shipment Form
- sample(s) in sealed container(s)
- for international shipments, a completed Commercial Shipping Invoice
Federal Guidelines for Shipping Hazardous Chemicals 30mL, 30g or Less
Please bring the following to the departmental stockroom (Chemistry 014) at least 1 business day in advance.:
- a completed Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Chemical Shipment Form
- MSDS’s for 2 primary compounds for each different sample
- sample(s) sealed (sealed with parafilm or wax) in a primary container(s) such as a vial(s)
- for international shipments, a completed Commercial Shipping Invoice
A secondary packaging such as a mailing tube is needed. Mailing tubes are available for purchase in the stockroom. A third outer box and vermiculite for cushioning and absorbing will be provided at no cost.
Note: If you have time sensitive materials, we recommend that in order to avoid delays due to inspections, do not send your materials near the end of the week.
Federal Guidelines for Shipping Hazardous Chemicals over 30mL or 30g
For quantities of hazardous chemicals over 30 mL or 30 g, please bring the following to the departmental stockroom (Chemistry 014) at least 3 business days in advance:
- a completed Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Chemical Shipment Form
- MSDS’s for 2 primary compounds for each different sample
- sample(s) in sealed primary container(s)
- for international shipments, a completed Commercial Shipping Invoice
Hazardous materials over 30 mL or 30 g must be shipped in federally approved packages. We have a limited variety of approved packing supplies for purchase.
Note: If you have time sensitive materials, we recommend that in order to avoid delays due to inspections, do not send your materials near the end of the week
Letters, Documents, and Non-Chemical Materials
For letters, documents, non-chemical materials, please bring the following to the departmental stockroom (Chemistry 014):
- a completed Non-Chemical Shipment Form
- for international shipments other than paper documents only, a completed Commercial Shipping Invoice
Shipping Unknown Chemical Mixtures
If shipping an unknown chemical mixture, further requirements might be needed. Please inform Phillip Wymola by email (pwymola@mail.chem.tamu.edu) or stop by the departmental stockroom (Chemistry 014).
