Cybernetics, as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary (1983), is the theoretical study of control processes in electronic, mechanical, and biological systems. It was my intent to aesthetically combine these three systems into one.
Any similarity between the abstract cybernetic organisms depicted here and actual cybernetic organisms is purely coincidental and unintentional.
Contentia 2000 is the name of this painting.
Cybernetic Hornet was painted on 3/24/94. It is the sister painting of the spider.
Cybernetic Spider was painted on 3/17/94. It is the sister painting of the hornet.
CyberChic is a baby chicken.
Electronic Flower was painted on 5/30/90.
Cybernetic Angelfish was a break from the sometimes monotonous pure white background I usually use. I painted this one on light blue, treated burlap.
Cybernetic Frog was also painted on colored burlap that was also treated for porosity.
Quintessential Beauty is my view of the perfect woman. I originally got the idea for the eye from the multifaced race of robots called the "Quintessence" on the animated series Transformers. She appears to only have one eye because her hair covers one eye.
In the past, my paintings have been exhibited at Klub X, an alternative night club in McAllen. Currently, I have three paintings on exhibit at Sweet Eugine's, a coffee house here in College Station.
Drawings for many of these paintings have been published in Gallery '92, a student literary magazine.
