Typical Graduate Plan for a CBI Student


Year 1, Fall Semester: a) attend CBI Fall Symposium; b) rotate in 3 labs; c) enroll in Principles of Biochemistry and the CBI journal club; d) attend seminar sponsored by CBI.

Year 1, Spring Semester: a) Complete rotations; b) select research advisor; c) enroll in Molecular Genetics, Enzymes, and/or Cell Biology classes, as well as the CBI journal club; d) attend external seminar sponsored by CBI; e) biochemistry students select lab, chemistry students begin to conduct research; f) attend CBI career development event; g) first year evaluations.

Year 1, Summer semester: a) conduct research

Year 2, Fall semester: a) attend CBI Fall Symposium; b) conduct research; c) enroll in CBI journal club

Year 2, Spring Semester: a) conduct research; b) apply for summer workshop experience; c) attend external seminar sponsored by CBI; d) enroll in Ethics and any remaining courses including Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, and/or Enzymes, in addition to the CBI journal club; e) attend CBI career development event.

Year 2, Summer semester: a) conduct research; b) attend conference or summer workshop experience

Subsequent years, Fall semesters: a) conduct research; b) enroll in CBI journal club; c) attend CBI Fall Symposium

Subsequent years, Spring semesters: a) conduct research; b) enroll in CBI journal club; c) attend CBI Spring symposium.

Subsequent years, summer semesters: a) conduct research; b) attend conference or workshop experience.
