Conference Attendance

Attending scientific meetings is critical for the scientific development of our trainees, and we want to encourage this. Upon the director's approval, each CBI student will be supported (currently at the level of $450) to attend one scientific conference annually for the duration of their graduate school experience. To qualify, a student must submit an abstract of the poster or talk to be presented. The criteria used for acceptability will be whether the student has substantial experimental or computational results such that others at the meeting would be motivated to discuss those results with the student. These funds would also be used for travel to attend the Summer Workshop Experience. Here is a short list of recent conferences that CBI students have attended or will be attending:

  • 20th Enzyme Mechanisms Conference (St. Pete Beach)

  • American Chemical Society National Meeting (Atlanta)

  • Graduate Research Conference-Bioinorganic Chemistry (Harbortown)

  • Texas Protein Folders Meeting (Camp Allen)

  • International Conference on Biological Inorganic Chemistry (Ann Arbor)
