ApplicationAn interested student should have a strong background in chemistry and an interest in using chemical approaches to obtain a molecular understanding of biological systems. Undergraduate majors of chemistry, biochemistry, or biology provide the most appropriate background, although these are not required. Undergraduate coursework should include two semesters of organic chemistry, at least one semester of physical chemistry, and one year of calculus. A student must be accepted into the Ph.D. program of either the Department of Chemistry or the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics. The requirements for each department differ slightly. The application for either department can be filled out on-line (below). There is no application fee in either case. Applications are welcome anytime.
IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO THE CHEMISTRY OR THE BIOCHEMISTRY/BIOPHYSICS PROGRAM SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE CBI TRAINING, PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING: WRITE TO PROFESSOR PAUL LINDAHL (CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT, TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, P.O. BOX 30012, COLLEGE STATION, TX 77842-3012 OR LINDAHL@MAIL.CHEM.TAMU.EDU) AND TO JOY MONROE IN THE GRADUATE OFFICE (CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT, TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, P.O. BOX 30012, COLLEGE STATION, TX 77842-3012 OR MONROE@MAIL.CHEM.TAM.EDU) STATING THAT THIS IS SO. THIS MAY BE IMPORTANT FOR FURTHER CONSIDERATION.
