  • B.A., B.S., or M.S. in chemistry or a closely related field.
  • An overall B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent,) or better grade point in their last 60 undergraduate hours or in their master's studies. Should also have an overall B in their chemistry courses.
  • 2 semesters of general chemistry with labs, 2 semesters of organic chemistry with labs, 2 semesters of physical chemistry with labs, and 1 semester of analytical chemistry.
  • 3 letters of recommendation from faculty members or laboratory supervisors who are familiar with the applicant's aptitude for chemistry.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test.
  • GRE Subject Test in Chemistry is recommended but not required.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for all international applicants for whom English is not a first language. Minimum TOEFL - 550 (paper test), 213 (computerized) or 100 (internet-based).
  • Test of Spoken English (TSE) not required for international applicants, but HIGHLY recommended.
