Steps for Domestic Applicants

  1. Complete the Department of Chemistry Online Application
  2. Complete the Texas A&M University Online Application
  3. Send official GRE scores to Texas A&M University
  4. Send 2 copies of your official transcripts to the Department of Chemistry
  5. Send 3 letters of recommendation to the Department of Chemistry
  6. Send your personal statement to the Department of Chemistry (if not included on your applications)
  7. Send your resume to the Department of Chemistry (optional)

Your application is complete when the above items have been received by:

Frequent Questions

What is the application deadline?
For full consideration applications should be received by January 15, 2010.

Which applications am I required to submit?
Two application forms must be completed: the Chemistry Department application and the Texas A&M University application.

Is there an application fee?
Domestic and permanent resident applicants are not required to pay the $50 application fee. When prompted for a payment method from the Texas A&M University application select the "Check" method of payment.

Can I be admitted without Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores?
We can make a decision on your application with self-reported scores, but we must have official scores to formally admit you into the program.

How do I send my Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores?
Official scores from the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) must be sent by Educational Testing Services to Texas A&M University, Code 6003.

Is the GRE Subject Test in Chemistry required?
The GRE Subject Test in Chemistry is recommended but not required.

Can I be admitted without official transcripts?
We can make a decision on your application using unofficial transcripts, but we must have all official post-secondary education transcripts to formally admit you into the program.

Are letters of recommendation required?
Three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your ability to conduct research and/or be successful in a graduate program are required. One letter should come from your research supervisor if you have conducted research.

Is a personal statement required?
A personal statement expressing your reason for pursuing advanced studies in chemistry is required. You may also want to add information about how you learned of our program or if there are specific special programs or training grants involving Chemistry faculty that attracted you.
