Texas A&M University is located in the twin cities of Bryan and College Station, home to about 170,000 residents. Our Central Texas location offers the best of both worlds: it's small enough to offer safe and affordable living and just a short drive to three major Texas cities—Houston, Austin and Dallas. Its regional airport provides commercial flights to neighboring cities.

College Station is situated in the middle of triangle formed by Dallas, Houston, and Austin.Mild, sunny winters make the region eminently suitable for year-round activities from fishing and hiking in the beautiful piney woods of eastern Texas to boating, bicycling, and camping in the Texas hill country. There are more than 100 state parks within a day's drive of College Station.

Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University was the first public college founded in Texas, opening in 1876. The campus is located in the twin cities of Bryan/College Station, which have a combined population of 114,000. The total student enrollment tops 44,000; of this number, approximately 7500 are in graduate or professional programs.

Texas A&M University is the fifth largest university in the country, but the student body prides itself on its tradition of hospitality that creates a collegial environment reminiscent of a small college. Texas A&M is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant institution; one of a select few institutions to hold all three federal mandates. For example, it works closely with NASA's Johnson Space Center on many projects, and the University's own research vessel sails the seven seas. Texas A&M also is the science operator for the Ocean Drilling Program funded by the National Science Foundation. Texas A&M is the site of the George Bush Presidential Library Center and is also proud of its outstanding College of Medicine and School of Veterinary Medicine. Texas A&M ranks in the top ten in the nation for permanent endowment, exceeding $2.4 billion, and is ranked seventh by the National Science Foundation in total research expenditures nationwide, spending more than $360 million annually. U.S. News & World Reports rates Texas A&M second in "sticker Price" value and among the five most efficient for "national universities". Finally, the university features five major research libraries with more than 2.5 million volumes and over 4 million electronic holdings.

The Texas A&M University faculty includes Nobel Prize winners, Pulitzer Prize winners, members of the National Academy of Engineering, members of the National Academy of Sciences, and National Medal of Sciences Awardees.

Texas A&M possesses a diverse student body. Students come from all 50 states and 113 different countries to pursue their degrees. Texas A&M leads the state in minority retention and ranks first nationally in the number of Chemistry Ph.D.s awarded to minority students. The student body is currently 45% female, 16% minority, and 10% international.
