Graduate Application Instructions for International Applicants

An International Applicant is not a US citizen/national or a permanent resident of the US.

The deadline for the submission of all application materials for international applicants wishing to begin graduate studies in Fall 2014 is December 15, 2013. Early submission of complete applications is encouraged for consideration for internal fellowships. A complete application to the PhD program in Chemistry consists of the following:

  1. Texas A&M University Application on ApplyTexas.org.
  2. Statement of Purpose (Answered as the Essay portion on your ApplyTexas application.)
    What is a Statement of Purpose?
  3. Official transcripts including English translation should be mailed. Transcripts from US institutions can be submitted electronically via the SPEEDE format. Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded via the Applicant Access portion of the Howdy Portal.

  4. Three Letters of Recommendation. Please request letters from your recommenders by using the Electronic Letter of Recommendation system (eLOR) via the Applicant Access portion of the Howdy Portal.

  5. GRE Scores. Texas A&M University code is 6003 and the Department of Chemistry code is 0301.

  6. GRE-Chemistry score. GRE-Chemistry scores are required for all applicants with a non-US undergraduate degree or a US undergraduate degree in a subject other than chemistry.  Please note the limited number of GRE-Chemistry test dates.

  7. TOEFL or IELTS Scores. Texas A&M University code is 6003. No department code is needed. Self-reported TOEFL/IELTS scores should be entered in the ApplyTexas application form.

  8. CV. Please upload your CV directly via the Applicant Access portion of the Howdy Portal.
    What is a CV?
  9. Application Fee. The application fee can be paid by credit card or can choose to pay later by check or money order. This fee is waived if the applicant completed all four years of undergraduate degree work at a US institution.
