In 1966, President Rudder charged Dr. Arthur E. Martell, the newly appointed Head of the Department of Chemistry, to expand and enhance the department’s programs. 50 years later, as a result of the legacy of Martell’s leadership, we are a research and teaching operation ranked in the top 20 Ph.D. granting institutions in the United States. We have over 300 chemistry majors, 270 graduate students and over $15M/year in research grants and contracts.
Join us as we celebrate the tremendous progress of Arthur Martell’s initiative with a series of symposia marking 50 Years of Chemistry Excellence. We invite you to attend any or all of the events. Symposia are free to all. You'll find detailed information about each symposium, as well as Banquet and hotel information, by clicking on the symposium images below.
